Dear parent and carers,
Firstly, can I say a huge THANK YOU to all our parents for the generosity of participating in the Easter/ Spring raffle. We raised a total of £150.00. With this money we plan to buy a new water tray with stand for indoors, along with some small world and maths resources.
Now that school allocation has taken place for all those children who will be leaving us to start ‘big school’ in September, our thoughts will be turning to preparing the children for such an important event. If you could please let me know if you have not already received this information?
Each practitioner will be individually planning to prepare their children for the transition. It is a very personal process – please let us know if you feel your child needs any extra support ahead of their move to Primary School. Current COVID-19 guidance will not permit us to take the children to Newlaithes Primary School to visit the Reception classroom and new surroundings as we usually do. Please be assured that our staff will go above and beyond to ensure that the transition is a smooth one.
The sun has got its hat on...
So please can you make sure that your child has one too!!!! We take every precaution to safeguard your children in the warm weather so please can you make sure your child has appropriate clothing to be able to enjoy the sunshine. As the weather warms up, we provide a shaded area outside, water to drink and often have snacks outside. Can you please ensure that you apply an 8hr+ sun cream to your child prior to coming to Roundabout on warm/ hot/ sunny days?

Laura and I have just embarked on a two-year course called “The Early Years Professional Development Programme”. This is an initiative funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and delivered by Education Development Trust in partnership with Elkan.
The programme provides high quality, evidence informed CPD (Continuing Professional Development) for pre-reception practitioners, those working with children between the ages of 2 and 4. Continuous professional development is just one aspect of what we do, the rest of the staff will also be doing short on-line courses to either refresh or update their current knowledge.
Whilst we cannot tell you what to put in your child’s packed lunch, we do ask you to consider the amount of chocolate/ sweet, based foods that you put in your child’s lunch, we have recently noticed a lot of high sugar-based foods.
Some good food swaps could be from a small chocolate cake bar to a slice of malt loaf, the split yoghurts with the chocolate pieces could be swapped to a low sugar yoghurt with some fresh fruit such as strawberries and blueberries.
Places for September
We do still have spaces available for September starters at Roundabout – please spread the word!!!
