Roundabout Pre-School

Newsletter

September 2018

Welcome to the new school year!!! We’re a few weeks in already and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new families to the Roundabout community. We have a greater number of new starter children, than children who already attend, we are so proud of the progress that has been made.

I would like to emphasise how pleased I am with our children: lots of our returning children have demonstrated fantastic maturity in helping to settle the new children and show them the ropes. Likewise, our new starters never fail to amaze us with their resilience and willingness to become as involved in Roundabout life as possible. Well done to everyone, staff, families and children, for all their efforts – September can be an emotional time for all concerned!

Up-date from the Roundabout Committee

The Committee recognises the importance of fair remuneration of the staff at Roundabout Pre-School and aims to remunerate all employees in line with the national living wage set by the Living Wage Foundation. Furthermore, Roundabout contributes towards staff pensions as part of the ‘automatic enrolment’ under the Pensions Act 2008. You may also have noticed that Horsforth Newlaithes Primary School, who we hire the premises from, had the portacabin re-decorated during the summer holidays. Considering the increased running costs of Roundabout Pre-School, the Committee has decided to increase fees to £12.50 per session from 5th November 2018.

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday, 17th October at 7.30pm in the portacabin and this year we will be calling upon you, as our parents, to step up to volunteer to help contribute to the running of Roundabout. Currently all of these posts are filled by hard-working parents who no longer have children who attend Roundabout. In order for us to continue as a community, committee-led setting (and in order for the Committee to be effective and relevant) we desperately need current parents to step forward. Being on the Committee is lots of fun and a great way to make a positive impact on how the pre-school is run. If you have any questions please contact our Committee Chair, Emily McGeown at roundaboutplaygroup@yahoo.co.uk or speak to Adele.
