Tapestry
Tapestry is an online software where we record your child’s development through an online journal as required by Ofsted in order to track your child’s development.
All new parents will have received an e-mail to activate their child’s Tapestry account. Please note, that you only get 48hrs to activate your child’s account from receiving the e-mail. If you missed activating your account in time, please let Adele know, so that she can send out another e-mail to you.
Your child’s key person does spend a lot of time putting observations and photos into your child’s journal; it would be great if you could read these observations and comment on what you have read.
As part of our parent partnership, it would be amazing, if you could add your observations and photos to Tapestry, such as what they may have done over the weekend with family and friends. Staff love to read and see what they have been doing, and it also gives our staff an insight into your child’s development outside the setting. If you have any questions regarding Tapestry or sessions, please e-mail alatroundabout@gmail.com
Clothing
Can parents please ensure their child comes to Roundabout with appropriate clothing for the weather? We will play outside in all weathers, so wellies, gloves and hats will make the time outdoors more enjoyable on colder days. Please ensure that they are clearly labelled.
Snack time
Would parents please ensure they bring a healthy snack and place it in the fruit tray? We like to ensure your child has different foods at snack time, such as cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, crackers, cheese, raisins, and fruit. If it is healthy, it is fine to bring in (except nuts or shellfish!).
Packed Lunches
Before the summer break, we had to ban several foods from the setting due to the severe allergies of some of our children. I am pleased to tell you that all food restrictions have been lifted, except for nuts and shellfish.
We ask that the children’s lunches consist of either a sandwich or pasta, fruit and vegetables. Treats are allowed; however, please keep this to a minimum. Please do NOT send in rice, as we cannot warm it up. Roundabout offers water or milk, not juice; if you would like your child to have juice, please bring this already diluted in their water bottle.
Drop-off times and collection.
Roundabout opens at 9.00 am and closes at 12.00 on Monday and Friday. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, we close at 3.00 pm.
At the bottom of the ramp, there will be a black trolley when you arrive. Please place your child’s packed lunch in this trolley. As you enter the building, the blue trolley is for the children’s bags. We try and keep the pegs spacious as this helps the children to be independent when collecting things from their pegs.
You must sign your child in on the register every morning. If you will be late to collect your child, please ring Roundabout on 07960855265 as soon as possible, as we leave the building at 2.55 pm.
Fundraising
Roundabout does a lot of fundraising to allow us to purchase resources for the setting. This academic year, we are going to be fundraising for resources for several different areas, such as a large wooden farm for our “small area”, some large dice, 2D and 3D shapes for our “Maths area”, along with a small unit for our “mark-making area”. These are just a few examples of what the funds we raise will be going towards. We will inform you of all fundraising events in newsletters.
We are in the process of re-vamping our “mark-making area”. If you have any of the following spares, they would be gratefully received by us: paper (white, coloured, squared), envelopes, sticky notes, and small notebooks.
Thank you for your continuous support,
Adele and the Roundabout team
