Staff training

I just wanted to take this opportunity to draw your attention to the importance the Roundabout team places on continuous professional development. Since last June we have undergone a lot of internal training to improve the quality of care we provide.

For instance, using the guidance called “birth to five matters”, every member of staff has completed training on how to ensure that all children are making progress. Laura and I are halfway through a two-year course called “Early Years professional development programme” which will result in Roundabout Pre-School having a ‘communication friendly status’ once we have completed the course. This means that our setting provides an environment where children can learn and are supported with any communication needs or children where English is an additional language.

Staff have also undergone a safeguarding refresher course along with the completion of 12 hours of Paediatric First Aid training last July.

Coming up at Roundabout

Monday 28^th February to Friday 4^th March 2022: Fundraising Brick Build

Our fundraising brick build will take place in the first week after the February half term. We will be providing children with sponsorship forms to take home the week before the holiday.

The idea is extremely simple: children get their nearest and dearest to sponsor them a small amount per brick. The children will then use wooden bricks to build as high a tower as they can whilst in Roundabout.

As well as raising money for some new resources for Roundabout, the children will also be learning new mathematical language, sequencing, counting and ordering as part of their developmental journey. Photos will be taken of your child with their creations and will be uploaded to your child’s Tapestry account.

Please support us as best you can. Unfortunately, we were unable to do this last year, so let’s smash it this year! All children will receive a certificate for participating.

Donations

We would greatly appreciate any toy donations you would like to pass on; please take photos of the toys for us to view prior to sending them in and email your photos to alatroundabout@gmail.com.

We are planning to create a DIY box, so if you have any of the following in new or very clean condition (NO RUST): Bolts, Cogs, Screws, Nuts

Other bits and bobs we are on the lookout for are: Metal kitchen utensils, Large buttons, Ribbon, Bobbins, Lids from jars, milk bottles/containers, Natural or manmade resources such as shells, stones, flowers
