July 2022
Welcome back to Roundabout for the final half term of the academic year.
A big welcome to our new families: Florence, Alfie, Owen and Edith who have recently started at Roundabout.
It is with a very heavy heart that we say goodbye to 16 of our children in July. We are very excited and confident that they will thrive and develop in their new schools.
Transition time
Transition to school will undoubtedly be our biggest priority this half term, for those children who are beginning a new journey into school in September. At circle time we have been practising lots of skills that the children will need such as saying ‘Good morning’ loudly and clearly to whoever is addressing them and sitting using our listening skills. These things may seem trivial but by exploring these rituals with the children we are regularly giving the children the opportunity to think about and express how they are feeling about starting school.
We are also giving the children lots of encouragement and support with independence skills such as putting on their coat and fastening it as well as putting on their shoes and washing and drying their hands. Parents and carers, you could help by encouraging this at home.
Transition reports
Our staff are starting to write their key children transition reports for the school leavers. For those lucky children who are staying, observations will continue to be done which you can view on your child’s Tapestry account. 😊
Please speak to your child’s key person if you have worries or concerns regarding your child’s report. The bulk of the report will describe where your child is currently developmentally. This is taken from the observations we have carried out since your child started at Roundabout.
The reports will be sent out to parents/ carers via Tapestry for you to read. All reports will be available from the week commencing 11th of July. There is a section for parents/ carers to fill in; you will have a week to fill this in as reports will be sent to school the week of the 18th of July.
Important:You can download a copy of your child’s report to keep from your child’s Tapestry account.
End-of-year party
We are going to have an end-of-year party on Tuesday, 19th July 2022. We have booked Shake, Rattle and Boogie to come in as entertainment for the children in the afternoon. Please do not bring a packed lunch for your child/ren on this day as we will be providing a party lunch for the children. If your child does not attend on this day, but you would like them to attend please speak to Adele. All dietary requirements will be catered for. If you have any questions regarding this, please speak to Adele.
