Our Training Days have changed: we will be open as usual on
Tuesday, 24 February 2015 and closed on Tuesday, 21 July 2015.
Our Staff Team
We hope all children and parents have been happy with their first term at Roundabout. The majority of children have settled in well and are making new friends.
We would also like to thank all staff; they have worked very hard to ensure the smooth transition of all children.
We hope you are happy with the work our staff put in when working with your children. However, if you have any concerns please feel free to chat with Sophie about this. All parents should have seen their child’s starting summary and have spoken to their child’s key worker about their child’s development. Throughout the next term, staff will be completing a termly summary to continue to monitor your child’s development. This will be for all children and again this will give you an opportunity of how your child is developing at Roundabout.
Thank you to the parents that have completed Roundabout’s parent questionnaire. It seems some parents are unaware of our policies and where the notice board is. Roundabout’s notice board is placed in the cloak room above the pegs to the right hand side. It displays important information about your child’s learning and the planned activities we have for that week. I would also like to make aware that Roundabout policies are available each morning and at collection times on the red table when you enter the room. Please feel free to read through any of our policies. These are also available on our website www.roundaboutpreschool.org.uk
Roundabout will be encouraging children to take part in our bonfire activities, including making chocolate apples and using our craft resources to create a bonfire.+ read more
Roundabout will be introducing a themed week for Children in Need. Therefore it would be great if all children could wear pyjamas throughout the week and bring a teddy bear to pre-school. We will be creating Pudsey the bear bandages using our resources.
Children will also be able to create their own poppy at pre-school for Remembrance Day Tuesday 11th November and other activities relating to the subject. Although we no longer follow strict ‘topics’ or ‘themes’ within the room (preferring to be led by children’s natural interests), we still aim to raise the children’s awareness of what is going on in our own country and around the world.
As some of you may already be aware, pre-school photos will be taking place at pre-school on Wednesday 12th November.
Whatever the weather......
Please can all parents and carers ensure that your children come to Roundabout with all the necessary kit! We play outside in all weathers and it is completely in the children’s hands when they go outside – wellies, gloves, hats and scarves, etc make the whole process more enjoyable for all concerned, and we don’t have a lot of spares! Please label all items clearly.
Calling all Volunteers!
We would love to see more parent volunteers at Roundabout – if you have the time please let us know. No amount of time is too small and we would always organise sessions to suit you – as little or as often as you would like.
The children often engage in conversations on what people who are close to them do for a living. If you feel you would like to share your professional knowledge/hobbies or interests with our group of interested 2,3 and 4 year olds, then please see Sophie, Carrie or your child’s key person. We can guarantee that the children would be a gentle audience!
New committee members...
Roundabout pre-school is run as an incorporated charity, which means it has charitable status whilst also running as a company. Roundabout is a committee-led community pre-school. The committee is a voluntary group, like a governing body, and consists of past and present parents/carers of Roundabout children. Committee members are known as trustees. Trustees have ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of Roundabout and ensuring that it is solvent, well-run, and delivering the charitable outcomes for the benefit of the public for which it has been set up. The committee meets once a month from 8pm, usually in the Chair’s house as well as once a year at the AGM.
In addition to this, a major role of the committee is fund-raising so that Roundabout staff can buy resources for the children. We welcome any parents/carers who would like to join the committee. If you are skilled in fund-raising, marketing, management or company law, we would particularly grateful of your support. However, you do not need to have a particular expertise to join the committee, just lots of enthusiasm for our community pre-school. If you would like to know more, please contact the Office Manager, Maren Swift via her email: firstname.lastname@example.org
